NEW ORLEANS (Nov. 15, 2013) – R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl Officials will host the third annual “Friday Night Concert” featuring The Charlie Daniels Band and Travis Tritt on Friday, Dec. 20, at 7 p.m. in Champions Square.  Admission to the concert is free.

The “Friday Night Concert”, will kick off the fan festivities for the 2013 R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl, taking place at 8 p.m. (CST) on Saturday, Dec. 21, in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Bringing an estimated annual economic impact of $15 million to the city of New Orleans, the game pits a Sun Belt Conference representative against a Conference USA opponent.

“Now in its thirteenth year, The R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl has become a tradition for the city of New Orleans, and what better way to kick off a bowl weekend than with a free celebration open for locals and fans to enjoy,” said Billy Ferrante, Executive Director of the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl.

From his Dove Award winning gospel albums to his genre-defining Southern rock anthems and his CMA Award-winning country hits, few artists have left a more indelible mark on America’s musical landmark than Charlie Daniels. Daniels has parlayed his passion for music into a multi-platinum career and a platform to support the military, underprivileged children and others in need.

Grammy and CMA winner Travis Tritt incorporates influences of Southern rock, blues and gospel into his country music. Following a long and successful music career, Tritt is now rolling out a full-band production following years of well-received solo-acoustic shows. Tritt’s legendary career has led him to performing at the 1996 Olympics, two Super Bowls and a World Series game.

Bowl Officials are also announcing Avery Johnson, current ESPN analyst and former NBA coach and player, as the keynote speaker for the 13th Annual R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl Luncheon at the New Orleans Marriott Grand Ballroom on Friday, Dec. 20 at 12 p.m.

The “Friday Night Concert” featuring The Charlie Daniels Band and Travis Tritt will take place on Dec. 20 at 7 p.m., and gates will open at 6 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.
