It's not often that Cajun Field is busy in mid-December, but on Tuesday afternoon, fans from across the South gathered for the New Orleans Bowl, which was moved to Lafayette this year because of Hurricane Katrina.

NEW ORLEANS - Sun Belt Conference Champion North Texas went through final preparations today for the 2002 New Orleans Bowl. The Mean Green, who will face Conference USA champion Cincinnati Tuesday at 6pm (CST) in the Louisiana Superdome, used their final practice day to take team photos inside the Dome and engage in a light workout. NEW ORLEANS, LA-- Conference USA has signed a multi-year agreement with the New Orleans Bowl to send a mutually agreed upon team to its annual game, bowl officials announced Thursday. The New Orleans Bowl, to be played Dec. 17, 2002 at the Louisiana Superdome, will now match a Conference USA team against the champion of the Sun Belt Conference.
