COACHES, FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN MISSISSPPI AND
ARKANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY, TO ATTEND A LUNCHTIME PRESS
CONFERENCE IN LAFAYETTE, TOMORROW, FRIDAY DEC. 9TH.

USM HEAD COACH JEFF BOWER: In his 15th season as head coach and in his second quarter century with the Southern Miss program, Bower has been associated with the Golden Eagles' program for almost one-third of its entire 89-year-long football history. Under Coach Bower, the Golden Eagles have joined elite company in all of college football - a group that boasts 12-straight non-losing seasons and eight bowl appearances in the last nine years.

ASU HEAD COACH STEVE ROBERTS : Arkansas State head football coach Steve
Roberts was named the Sun Belt Conference's Coach of the Year. Roberts, now in his fourth year as head coach at ASU, completed a 6-5 regular season and was 5-2 in conference action, guiding the Indians to their first bowl game as a member of Division I-A. Roberts took an ASU team that was picked sixth in the preseason polls and surpassed all expectations.
