Coaches to Visit Lafayette

THE 2005 NEW ORLEANS BOWL HAS ARRANGED FOR BOTH HEAD COACHES, FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN MISSISSPPI AND ARKANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY, TO ATTEND A LUNCHTIME PRESS CONFERENCE IN LAFAYETTE, TOMORROW, FRIDAY DEC. 9TH.
USM HEAD COACH TOMMY BOWERS: Now beginning his 15th season as head coach and in his second quarter century with the Southern Miss program, Bower has been associated with the Golden Eagles' program for almost one-third of its entire 89-year-long football history. Under Coach Bowers, the Golden Eagles have joined elite company in all of college football - a group that boasts 12-straight non-losing seasons and eight bowl appearances in the last nine years.
ASU HEAD COACH STEVE ROBERTS : Arkansas State head football coach Steve Roberts was named the Sun Belt Conference’s Coach of the Year. Roberts, now in his fourth year as head coach at ASU, completed a 6-5 regular season and was 5-2 in conference action, guiding the Indians to their first bowl game as a member of Division I-A. Roberts took an ASU team that was picked sixth in the preseason polls and surpassed all expectations.
