North Texas Notes and Quotes from first practice in New Orleans

- The Mean Green is making its third straight trip to the New Orleans Bowl. There are several players on this year's team who have key players in the previous two New Orleans Bowls. Seven of the offensive starters and nine of the defensive starters have either been starters or seen valuable playing time in the previous two bowls.
- The team practiced at St. Martins High School today and will practice at the New Orleans Saints practice facility the next two days. On Monday the team will have its usual walk-through at the New Orleans Superdome.
- The team practiced in the usual helmet and shoulder pads with limited contact for nearly two hours. They worked on offensive and defensive team drills for the majority of practice, followed by a short span of PAT and field goal work.
- Every starter who had been injured during the season practiced Friday. Defensive end Adrian Awasom and defensive tackle Brandon Kennedy were both nagged with ankle sprains late in the season but both practiced.
- Running back Patrick Cobbs will have an opportunity to build upon his rushing average of 157.0 yards per game, which leads the nation. Cobbs will also add to his North Texas and Sun Belt Conference record of 1,570 yards rushing this season.

"It has been a great year for a lot of things. We finished the season with an undefeated conference record and we had a lot of players receive several individual rewards. The New Orleans Bowl is a fitting cap to a great season.

"We know that Memphis is a very good team and they will present challenges that we haven't seen this year. We are going to
