Rick Minter Post-Practice Quotes
“We had a good practice this morning. Since beating East Carolina to win
the Conference USA championship and New Orleans Bowl bid last week, we had
many distractions facing us. The kids had to take finals and finish the
academic quarter while the coaches and staff were all getting ready to come
to New Orleans. Today was our first practice this week where everybody had
clear focus on North Texas and our play showed it.

“The weather was great this morning. When we left Cincinnati, it was rainy
and cold and snow was promised so it was nice to have a practice in
conditions that allowed us to concentrate on our game plan.

“Our arrival into New Orleans last night (Friday) was outstanding. Several
members of the bowl committee welcomed us at the airport and then they had a
first class welcoming party waiting for us at the hotel. The players were
showered in beads while a Dixie Jazz Band played. It showed what a first
class organization that New Orleans Bowl committee is and how they have put
all of their efforts towards making sure that this is a great experience for
the student-athletes.

On Doug Monaghan:
“It was good to see 45 back on the field this morning. He has shown some
pretty good progress since last week but we will have to wait and see if he
continues to improve before we are ready to say that he will play on
Tuesday.”
