SUN BELT GAME PREVIEWS
Southern Utah at Arkansas State
ASU is the only IA team playing in its 11th game of the season this week. Iowa, Kansas and San Jose State are the only other IA teams that will play their whole seasons without an off-week . Senior Day in Jonesboro this Saturday will be the Indians final home game of the season, and will be the second time the Indians have played the Thunderbirds. ASU will end the regular season with two conference road games to Louisiana-Lafayette and Idaho.
Idaho at Louisiana-Lafayette
Last year the Cajuns set several school records in the inaugural conference matchup, including a team record 641 yards of total offense. This will be UL Lafayette’s 57th homecoming. Idaho is the second school from the Gem State to venture into Cajun Field. The Cajuns defeated Idaho State, 31-30, in 1985.
Louisiana-Monroe at North Texas
Last year’s game was the lone conference blemish on the Sun Belt’s New Orleans Bowl representative. ULM ended their 12-game losing streak with last year’s win. The NT defense continues to be one of the best in the country, holding ULL to 241 yards of total offense last week, and goes up against a renewed ULM offense that has put up 1,600 yards of total offense in the past three weeks.
Middle Tennessee at New Mexico State
In game one of the series, the Blue Raiders came from 24 points down in the fourth quarter to win the game. Saturday’s final road game for MT will be the first time the team has played in the state of New Mexico. New Mexico State, however, is looking for its first undefeated season at home since 1967, and are on pace to break the all-time home attendance record. The Aggies are currently averaging 22,813, ahead of the record of 18,831 set in 1978.
